Helge H. Grammerstorf started his career as an ordinary seaman and assistant officer. Finishing his study with a dissertation about "Financing of Cruise Vessels" and a final degree as Captain and Certified Commercial Engineer, he sailed onboard several cargo and passenger vessels in international services.

He operates in the passenger shipping industry for more than 30 years, including more than fifteen years as managing partner of the market research and consulting company SeaConsult HAM GmbH, which focuses on the international ocean and river cruise industry. He is also managing director of SeaConsult FIN GmbH, which specializes in the financing of river and ocean cruise ships.

Since March 2013 Helge Grammerstorf holds the position of Director of CLIA Germany, the German representation of CLIA Global, the world association of the cruise industry.
Helge Grammerstorf studied in Hamburg, holds a patent AG ('Kapitän auf Großer Fahrt') and holds a degree in industrial engineering for maritime traffic.
